Power Output
The cards can deliver power to external devices attached to the DB9 connector. The power is delivered as single DC-output through the POWER and GND pins.
The voltage is selectable by means of the PinSEL switch.
On Picolo
- When set to +12V, the current is drained directly from the PCI +12V power rail.
- When set to +5V, the current is drained directly from the PCI +5V power rail.
On Picolo PCIe
- When set to +12V, the current is drained directly from the PCI Express +12V power rail.
- When set to +5V, the current is drained from the PCI Express +12V power rail through a high-efficiency switching voltage regulator.
The output is protected against accidental short-circuits and over-currents by a PTC device that operates like a self-resettable fuse.

Note. The maximum allowed current is very conservative regarding the PTC rating current: This ensures that the PTC device will not trip even in case of high card temperature at maximal allowed sustained output current.
