Cables Referencing

Any cable can be referred to in two ways:

Cable Designator Syntax

The cable designator is a unique character string structured as follows:

<Family>-<Identifier>-<Length>

This is an Euresys proprietary designation system, and does not correspond to an industry-wide standard.

Item

Description

<Family>

A three-letter symbol indicating the main device connected to the cable.

<Identifier>

The letter C followed by a two-digit part number.

<Length>

The length of the cable expressed in meters (two digits).

For example, the cable designated by "A15-C03-05" refers to a 5-meter cable (05) to be connected to an analog Domino frame grabber (A15). This is the third of this kind documented by Euresys (C03).

The length item is "xx" when a cable of unspecified length is described.

Cable Name

To ease the understanding of a cable usage, a name has been assigned to it. This name unambiguously designates the cable, but it only makes sense to the engineer.
