Designed for demanding video surveillance applications, Picolo Diligent offers simultaneously full D1 compressed and uncompressed streams on 4 video inputs. The acquisition rate of 100 / 120 frame/s or 200 / 240 field/s —PAL / NTSC— is permanently available.
The implementation on Picolo Diligent of an FPGA —a highly programmable electronic component— confers to the board a high level of flexibility. Besides the high and controlled acquisition rate, the FPGA manages a large memory buffer. This frame store guarantees, independently of FIFO buffers overflows or PCI latencies, the transfer of complete and reliable images.
In addition, the FPGA performs "on the fly" data processing: scaling, cropping, contrast, brightness, saturation, color conversion and storage format. The acquired streams, one compressed and one uncompressed, with different configurations, can be sent from the frame grabber memory to two different memory locations such as the computer main memory for storage and the graphic card memory for preview and display.
Picolo Diligent bracket exposes standard BNC connectors and accommodates 4 cameras. In parallel, these 4 video inputs and the additional video output and cascading video input can be interfaced directly to headers available on the board or via VEBs —Video Expansion Brackets.
On Picolo Diligent Plus (PCIe), another on-board header exposes 4 contact-closure inputs and 5 solid-state relay outputs for system integration. A powerful watchdog function further eases the Picolo Diligent Plus (PCIe) integration in a system.
Picolo Diligent is available in two form factors.
- Picolo Diligent (PCI) —64-bit, 66 MHz Conventional PCI— offers 200 MByte/s data delivery bandwidth.
- Picolo Diligent Plus (PCIe) —1-lane PCI Express— offers 180 MByte/s data delivery bandwidth.
Both versions fully comply with FCC and CE EMC —electromagnetic compatibility— international standards.
Euresys provides multiple ways to operate a Picolo Diligent: DirectShow filters and MultiCam interfaces. MultiCam interfaces are available for various Windows and Linux operating systems. Through these interfaces, Picolo Diligent acquires, at will, images in broadcast resolution, in any frame, field, CIF, QCIF or custom format.
