This delay is normally counted as a number of video lines. In case of interlaced scanning, and for some special tap structures, the counting unit is the video half-line. The value can be positive or negative.

This parameter is applicable to analog area-scan camera able to receive the horizontal and vertical synchronization from the frame grabber. This is sometimes referred to as genlocking the camera.

The vertical reference instant corresponds to the leading edge of the vertical synchronization pulse embedded in the analog video signal.
