Introduction

For applications such as stereoscopy imaging, it is required to acquire images from 2 cameras that shoot the same object exactly at the same time.

Such requirement is now available on Domino Alpha 2 with the feature named "StereoVision".

Case of Asynchronous Cameras

In case of "Asynchronous Reset" cameras (Operation = CTL or VCAM), a common system trigger needs to start exposure of both cameras simultaneously. The same exposure time should be defined for both cameras.

On most cameras, the readout follows the exposure phase automatically. Therefore, concurrent readout is required.

Since some cameras start their exposure at line boundaries; it is better to apply a Common Horizontal drive synchronization signal to both cameras.

Case of Synchronous Cameras

In case of "Synchronous" cameras (Operation = SYNC), both cameras should have the same exposure time settings and must be synchronized on common Horizontal and Vertical drive synchronization signal timings.

A common system trigger will trigger a simultaneous Readout at next Vertical Sync.
