Free-Running Interlaced-Scan Cameras

This section helps the MultiCam user to select the appropriate template for interfacing a free-running analog interlaced camera to a Domino board.

Some low-cost industrial cameras are based on interlaced PAL/NTSC television sensors.

These cameras are very cost effective but unfortunately are not really satisfactory to operate in the asynchronous reset mode. There are no CamFile templates delivered with MultiCam for asynchronous reset interlaced scan cameras.

The Domino frame grabbers allows to operate such camera in the free-running mode using the InterlaceFR camera model.

Three are two camera synchronization schemes available for that camera model:

CamConfig

Hor. SyncMode (Signal)

Hor. SyncRef

Vert. SyncMode

Vert. SyncRef

IxxSA

Analog (Video)

Camera

Analog (Video)

Camera

IxxSM

Master(Hdrive)

Frame grabber

Master(Vdrive)

Frame grabber

The recommended synchronization scheme corresponds to the CamConfig value IxxSA. In that case, the frame grabber synchronizes horizontally and vertically using the sync signal embedded in the video. The mode is applicable only if the following requirements are fulfilled by the camera:

If the vertical sync interval requirement is not fulfilled, consider using the IxxSM case. In that case, the frame grabber becomes the sync master and sends Hdrive/Vdrive sync signals to the camera.
