Free-Running Progressive-Scan Cameras

This section helps the MultiCam user to select the appropriate template for interfacing a free-running analog progressive camera to a Domino board.

The majority of cameras used for industrial applications are progressive-scan cameras.

For applications not requiring the frame-on-demand mode, the Domino frame grabbers allows to operate the camera in the free-running mode using the ProgressiveFR camera model.

Three are four camera synchronization schemes available for that camera model:

The recommended synchronization scheme corresponds to the CamConfig value PxxSA. In that case, the frame grabber synchronizes horizontally and vertically using the sync signal embedded in the video. The mode is applicable only if the following requirement is fulfilled by the camera:

If the vertical sync interval requirement is not fulfilled, consider using the PxxSA_D case. The vertical synchronization is established through a digital vertical sync (Vsync) signal. This mode is only available on Domino Dł boards.

Another alternative is to use the PxxSM mode. In that case, the frame grabber becomes the sync master and sends Hdrive/Vdrive sync signals to the camera.

The PxxSD mode implements digital horizontal synchronization. It has the same requirements as PxxSA_D a for the vertical synchronization. This mode requires the following digital synchronization signals, in addition to the analog video signals:
